Become an Earth Team Volunteer! The job of conserving renewable natural resources cannot be done by government alone. The collective talents and energies of private individuals and groups are vital. Since 1981, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Medina County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD), has provided an opportunity for volunteers to use their talents and abilities on behalf of conservation. These volunteers are known as the "Earth Team." Mission Statement: It shall be the mission of the Earth Team to provide an effective volunteer workforce within the Natural Resources Conservation Service to help people conserve, improve, and sustain the Earth's resources and its environment. General Information: As a volunteer, you will receive no salary or wages from NRCS or the Medina SWCD; however, NRCS can pay for incidental expenses you may incur as you give your time and talents to further the mission. While you are not a federal or SWCD employee, you are protected from work-related tort claims or injuries. Qualifications: NRCS Earth Team volunteers must be at least 14 years or older. Volunteers do not have to be a citizen of the United States, but you should be a citizen of an allied country. Many citizens are eligible to serve as volunteers, as are employees of other federal agencies or departments. You will be asked to complete a brief application form and provide your Social Security Number..
